In Fifty Rules Over Fifty, Duglas makes light of the really weird quirks, habits, opinions and ways of the elderly. Written in a self-deprecating, crass, ranting, comedic style, Fifty Rules Over Fifty is laugh-out-loud hilarity, both poking fun at aging, and providing practical advice for becoming a more useful, tolerable, old person.
The book is based on a letter and a list of FIFTY (50) rules that Duglas wrote to his older self. The rules were written to prevent him from “becoming a bitter, intolerable, useless, pain in the ass, old, idiot.” The list includes rules like:
